Training

Training

Training may be done either in a classroom or online. All online training is done through the BSA website. Go to My Scouting to create an account. After you have registered, click on “E-Learning” on the left side of the page. Scroll down and select the “Cub Scout” tab. Select the appropriate course to begin your training. Upon completion of your training, please provide a copy of your training certificate(s) to the Cubmaster. Required training courses are listed below.

Youth Protection Training (approximately 30 minutes)

Required for all committee members, all leaders and all assistant leaders. Certification must be renewed every two years.

This is Scouting (approximately 50 minutes)

Required for all new den leaders and assistant den leaders.

Den Leader Fast Start Training (approximately 30 minutes)

Required for all new den leaders and assistant den leaders.

Den Leader Position-Specific Training

Prerequisite: This is Scouting

Required for all new den leaders and assistant leaders. Den leaders and assistant den leaders will need to take the training courses to match the level of the boys in the den they are leading (i.e. Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos). Leaders and assistant leaders will need to take the next level of training every year as the boys in their den advance through the cub scout ranks. A trainer-led course may be offered. Contact the Cubmaster if interested. If you attend a trainer-led course, you will be trained for all levels on the same day.
